A Legacy Reimagined — On Canvas or Paper
I’m Frédéric Bonin-Pissarro — painter, professor, illustrator, and great-grandson of Camille Pissarro, one of the founding masters of Impressionism. Carrying the Pissarro name is both an honor and a responsibility. My great-grandfather helped change the course of art history, and my goal is to be a humble servant of my craft — creating work that is honest, personal, and rooted in the same spirit of exploration.
My paintings blend the symbolic energy of tribal and primitive art with the discipline of classical training. Faces are not just likenesses, but vessels of memory, myth, and emotion. Each piece begins as a hand-painted original — a fully tactile process led by intuition and honed technique. Over time, I refine it through a layered visual process shaped by decades of experience in illustration and design, resulting in surfaces that often evoke the luminosity of stained glass, the patina of time, and the movement of gesture.
I believe art should live with people, not only in museums. That’s why I offer limited edition prints, each produced to museum standards, signed and numbered, and created directly from my studio originals. These editions are made to be lived with, to grow richer with time, and to carry forward a living legacy that connects past and present.
